I use this as a bass knob in my dad's truck. Installation is easy, it works, and if used properly, you won't introduce distortion into the system through the use of this product.
Many amplifiers now come with a bass knob. These products are bass boosts. Generally speaking, using a bass boost in this fashion is asking for increased distortion and possibly amplifiers and speakers releasing magic smoke.
This product doesn't boost anything though. It takes the maximum undistorted volume (if you set your gain correctly!) and performs EQ cuts. Meaning if you're a backyard installer and you want to give your friends a cool little toy and don't want to deal with them constantly burning equipment, if you can set it up properly, this is a very good product. Turn the radio to the maximum undistorted volume, turn the knob all the way up, match the gain to the head unit's precut voltage. Its seriously that easy.
When I finally get My SMD Distortion Listener, gain setting will be infinitely easier.
